Ayos Privacy Policy.
What the Ayos app does with your photos and your data. The short version: everything happens on your device, and we collect nothing.
Who this is from
This policy covers the Ayos app for iPhone, Mac, and Android (horizondigital.dev/ayos), made and operated by Horizon Digital Engineering LLC ("we", "us"), a Florida limited liability company. It does not cover this website, which has its own policy.
Everything happens on your device
Ayos analyzes your photo library on the device it is running on: with Apple's on-device frameworks on iPhone and Mac, and with Google's on-device ML Kit libraries on Android, whose models are bundled with the app. Ayos does not transmit your photos, videos, photo metadata, or its analysis to Horizon Digital Engineering or to anyone else, and keeps no copy of them anywhere but on your device. We cannot see them.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no account to create, so we do not collect your name, email address, or any identifier. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software, and makes no network connections of its own.
What the app stores on your device
Ayos keeps a local record of what it found in your library (categories, scores, and the reasons for them, including text it read in an image and the place a photo says it was taken, read from the photo itself) and of your decisions (what you kept, what you put in the Review bin, how many free deletes and conversions you have used). This record stays in the app's private storage on your device.
iPhone and Mac. The record is marked so that it is left out of iCloud Backup. On iPhone it is removed when you delete the app. On Mac it sits in the app's container folder under Library/Containers, which you can delete along with the app.
Android. The record is marked so that it is left out of Android's cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, and it is removed when you uninstall the app.
What the app stores in your iCloud account
iPhone and Mac. The count of free deletions and free Live Photo conversions you have used is kept in your iCloud account's key-value storage, so it follows you to a new device and is one allowance shared by your iPhone and Mac. It is two numbers, it belongs to your Apple Account, it syncs through Apple like your purchase does, and we never see it. Without an iCloud account the count stays on the device and is removed with the app.
Android. The count is kept with the app's settings, which Android may include in your phone's backup and device-to-device transfer under your Google account, the same as your other apps' settings. The copy on the device goes when you uninstall the app; a backup Android has already taken can outlive it and restore the count if you install Ayos again, according to your Google account's backup settings. We never see it either way.
Suggestions, not decisions
Ayos suggests; you decide. Every pile, badge, score, and reason is an estimate made by software looking at pixels, and it can be wrong in both directions: it can call a memory junk and junk a memory. Nothing leaves your library until you choose it, press Delete, and confirm in the system dialog, and deleted photos stay in your photos app's trash for 30 days (Recently Deleted on iPhone and Mac, the trash on Android). Ayos is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows; keep a backup of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Deleting photos
Ayos never deletes a photo on its own. When you choose to delete, the photos wait in Ayos for 7 days by default, where you can take any back. After that, or when you choose to delete now, Ayos asks the system to move them, the system asks you to confirm, and the photos move to your photos app's trash, where they stay for 30 days.
iPhone and Mac. The request goes to Apple's Photos framework, and the photos move to the Recently Deleted album in Photos.
Android. The request goes to Android's media store, and the photos move to the library's trash, which your photos app shows.
iCloud Photos and Google Photos
If you use iCloud Photos, Apple's Photos app may download a photo to your device so it can be analyzed, and deletions sync across your devices through iCloud. Those transfers are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, not by us.
If you back up your Android library to Google Photos, a photo moved to the trash on the device may be moved to the trash in your backup as well. That sync is handled by Google under Google's privacy policy, not by us. Ayos itself never talks to either service.
Purchases
The optional Pro purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store on iPhone and Mac, and by Google through Google Play on Android. We receive no payment details. The store's own record of the purchase is checked on your device to unlock Pro.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or export. If you believe otherwise, or have any question about this policy, email privacy@horizondigital.dev and we will respond within 30 days.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for advertising. There is nothing to opt out of.
Children
Ayos is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. The commitments above, on-device analysis and no collection, are the product; they will not weaken.
