Small, technical, and implementation-focused. HDE works best on technical problems that need careful engineering, not a generic consulting team.
Narrow the problem
The work usually starts by understanding the system, the constraints, and what actually needs to be built or decided. That may involve architecture review, data-flow analysis, threat modeling, prototype planning, or technical research.
Build or document the path
Some engagements produce code. Others produce a reference implementation, design review, integration plan, technical report, or decision memo. The point is to leave behind something useful.
Work directly with the principal
HDE is intentionally small. Clients work directly with the founder and principal engineer. The firm is a good fit for work that sits between research, architecture, and implementation.
